Will Martin Scorsese Join The E.G.O.T. Club?

Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese picked up his first ever Emmy on Sunday, but don’t expect him to join the E.G.O.T. club.
“No, I’ll never get that,” he told Access Hollywood backstage on Sunday, referring to the award quartet of an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony (the only one he’s missing to complete the set is a Tony).
Although he’s won a host of accolades over the years, winning Sunday night’s Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series award for his work on “Boardwalk Empire” still managed to move the director.
“It’s really very exciting because it’s another medium,”

Shocking Transformation! Is That Really Sally Kirkland?

Academy Award nominated actress Sally Kirkland attended the New York International Film Festival opening night gala premiere of The Last Gamble on Thursday, looking drastically different from her former self - and RadarOnline.com has the shocking photos!
PHOTOS: Sally Kirkland's Shocking Transformation
The 69-year-old star, who has been featured in several Broadway plays, television shows and movies over the years, hit the red carpet of her movie screening in an eccentric ensemble (which included a totally sheer black top and UGG boots) -- but it was the features of her face which made her identity questionable.

South Australian Living Artists: one gallery at a time

I make half a dozen attempts to read the SALA Festival catalogue (including on the two-hour flight from Sydney to Adelaide), but never get past page seven, and the first five of those are sponsors’ messages. The problem is SALA (South Australian Living Artists) is one massive festival, the fringe of the art world – 4,132 visual artists from top names to emerging to amateur, and 543 locations from the Art Gallery of South Australia and commercial galleries to real estate offices, pubs, upholsterers and auction houses, all over South Australia. It might be easier to list who’s not participating.

Pittsburgh • Ben Roethlisberger running around, extending plays, throwing touchdowns. Hines Ward dancing in the end zone, not on the ballroom floor. Troy Polamalu picking off a pass. James Harrison wreaking havoc in the backfield.
Does the calendar say August or December? For a couple of dazzling quarters on Thursday night, the Pittsburgh Steelers made it hard to tell the difference.
Roethlisberger threw for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Pittsburgh’s defense put an exclamation point to Philadelphia star Michael Vick’s miserable day, intercepting three of his passes in the first half of a remarkably easy 24-14 victory.

Coliseum fight puts Rose Bowl ahead as potential fill-in NFL home

Allow me to put the cart before the Trojan horse.
If the NFL returns to Los Angeles -- and that's still an if -- the relocated team is more likely to call the Rose Bowl its temporary home than the Coliseum.
There are a lot of reasons for this, although don't expect backers of either competing stadium plan to make that announcement any time soon. This whole process is about competition -- whether it's the NFL pitting city against city, proposal against proposal, prospective owner against owner -- so it makes no sense to publicly eliminate a competitor, even if

Akers among NFL players to lose money in Ponzi scheme

Niners placekicker David Akers told a federal jury in Austin, Texas, on Monday that he lost $3.7 million with Triton Financial from 2007 to '09. Prosecutors are claiming former Triton chief executive Kurt Barton built a $50 million Ponzi scheme.
Akers did not practice Sunday and was late to practice Monday after testifying.
"I've had a lot of sleepless nights," Akers said, according to the Austin American-Statesman. "This is my family's future. I said that to Kurt a lot of times. I said, 'Man, I'm trusting in you.'"
According to the American-Statesman, prosecutors contend Barton hired former NFL quarterbacks Koy

Harvard University law professor and former Obama administration official Elizabeth Warren is considering a run against Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown (R) in the 2012 election. News reports indicate that she will make her decision around Labor Day.
The Boston Herald reports that Warren has hired Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick’s campaign architect, Doug Rubin, and is reaching out to other top Democrats in the state.

NFL draft analysts: After top two, Christian Ponder might be next-best QB option for Vikings

20110424__110425Ponder_400.jpg

The question seems simple enough.
Assuming Auburn's Cam Newton and Missouri's Blaine Gabbert are off the board early in Thursday's NFL draft, which quarterback from this year's class is the best fit for the Vikings, who own the 12th overall pick and have an offense coach Leslie Frazier wants to 'see globally' in its scheme?
The Pioneer Press broached this subject with 10 draft analysts or former NFL officials, and some wondered whether a quarterback from the available pool even warrants a Vikings selection in the first two rounds.
Former Baltimore Ravens head coach and Vikings offensive coordinator Brian Billick

NFL Draft 2011: Prince Amukamara Could Be the Answer for the Texans at No. 11

Prince Amukamara is one of the most interesting prospects in this year’s draft. He almost appears to be underrated. It’s not every day you get a top tier cornerback in the draft and that is exactly what he is.
According to CBS Sports Texans RapidReports, Amukamara learned how to disguise his coverage while playing at Nebraska.
“Though Prince Amukamara played mostly press coverage at Nebraska, he still found ways to disguise his coverage, according to Carl Pelini, his former defensive coordinator. ‘Prince would try different ways of pressing,’ Pelini said. ‘Every once in awhile he would surprise a guy with
